Director of the National Museum of Western Ar. Born in 1963. Graduated Department of Art History, the University of Tokyo in 1987. Subsequently completed graduate course of the University of Tokyo, then studied at Institute of Fine Arts at New York University from 1990 to 1995. Worked as curator at the National Museum of Western Art from 1996 to 2007, and then associate professor of Musashino Art University from 2007, and professor from 2010 to 2021. From 2000 to 2004, director of Musashino Art University Museum & Library.
