He was born in Kitakyushu City in 1959. He graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Letters, Department of Art History. After working as a reporter in the music and art fields for Nikkei BP, editor-in-chief of Nikkei Art magazine, and reporter in charge of art for the Nihon Keizai Shimbun(NIKKEI), he has been a professor in the Department of Art at Tama Art University since 2012. He teaches courses such as “Art and Economics” and “Music and Art. He is a board member of Music Dialogue, a general incorporated association.
He has written articles for many media, including the Nihon Keizai Shimbun(NIKKEI), NIKKEI Financial, ONTOMO, TOYO KEIZAI and RONZA. He is the editor-in-chief of “Whooops!”, an art magazine published by Tama Art University. Major articles he has written include “Paul Klee: A Symphony of Color and Line” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun), “Music in Pictures” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun), “The Mystery of the Violin” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun), “Elegance of Sekka Kamisaka” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun), “The Gaki, Kyosai Kawanabe” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun), and “The Technique of Tsuguharu Foujita: Talc, the Milky-White Beauty of the Artist” (Nihon Keizai Shimbun),”The Mystery Behind a Masterpiece The Mystery Behind the Masterpieces!
