Independent curator. Hayashi worked as a curator of Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art from 1989 to 2012. She curated a number of exhibitions there, including Is This Art? (1998), Robert Ryman (2004), Gerhard Richter (2005), and Mark Rothko (2009). In 2010, she was appointed as a commissioner for the Japanese participation in the 14th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh. Other exhibitions and projects she has worked are; Yokohama Triennale 2014 (artistic director: Yasumasa Morimura), commissioned work by Gerhard Richter for Toyoshima (Ehime Prefecture), Robert Frank: Books and Films, 1947-2017 in Kobe, Travelers: Stepping into the Unknown (2018, The National Museum of Art, Osaka).
