Souya Handa (b. 1994, Hamamatsu), grew up in Hiroshima, is an artist and independent curator based in Tokyo. His projects focus on exploring the conflicts between technology and social ethics, as well as issues surrounding Asian and Japanese identity. Recent curated exhibitions include; “(Don’t) Keep it” (2024), “Take it Home, for (__) Shall Not Repeat the Error.” (2023). He holds an MFA in Intermedia Art from the Tokyo University of the Arts, as well as a MASc from the University of Tokyo, where he researched 1980s Japanese video art. He has been selected as a New York Fellowship grantee for 2024 by the Asian Cultural Council.
